Water saturation (Sw) of a reservoir is a function of height above free water (h) and pore type. Sw interpretations should be made accounting for h, r35, and pore throat size distribution in the reservoir. The Archie equation is the most widely used method of determining Sw.

{\text{Hydrocarbon saturation }}({\text{S}}_{{\text{h}}})=1-{\text{S}}_{{\text{w}}}
