The Murzuq Basin contains up to 4000 m (13,123.4 ft) of Cambrian to Quaternary sedimentary rocks. Acacus, Tadrart, and Ouan Kasa Sandstones are very prospective reservoirs. The Tanezzuft Shale, as thick as 500 m, is the major source rock.
