Gas-prone organic matter having Rock-Eval pyrolysis hydrogen indices in the range of 50 to 200 mg hydrocarbon\g TOC when thermally immature; generally contains higher plant organic matter dominated by vitrinite macerals; common but not restricted to paralic marine settings; type III pathway on Van Krevelen diagrams.[2]
