Burial history chart
A diagram that shows the depth of burial corrected for compaction of each rock unit (subsidence curve) versus the timing of the essential elements in a petroleum system, including the time interval and critical moment for petroleum generation. The calculated temperature history and the timing of petroleum generation based on calculated vitrinite reflectance or other maturity parameters are commonly overlain on the burial history diagram.
