Revision as of 20:25, 25 September 2014

I am a consulting geologist in Tulsa, primarily doing various editorial work for AAPG. My academic credentials are B.S. Geology, B.A. Biology Syracuse University 1975 and M.S. Geology Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 1977. I have worked in many aspects of the industry: development, exploration, log digitization, and seismic modeling and synthetics.

I have been adding links to articles, linking to other pages we seeded the wiki with, and adding links (red) to things we need articles about. I have written a few stubs which need to be expanded. I have also put together some pages of links to further information; these pages will be replaced with actual articles in time.

Stubs that have been linked

Stubs that still need to be linked

Articles that are lists of links and have been linked in our wiki

Articles that are lists of links and still need to be linked throughout the wiki

At some point, someone needs to go through and link every age (Cambrian, Llandoverian, etc.) to the appropriate place on this website: http://www.stratigraphy.org/bak/geowhen/geolist.html It may be that some time periods will merit a page of their own, and that would supersede the above. I made one for Tertiary, because it is now obsolete. I also made one for Carboniferous terminology.

Various others that have been linked throughout

  • Cross section (which includes the former page Geological cross sections)
  • Oil- water, gas-water, oil-gas contact (from the Schlumberger glossary)
  • Fluid contacts
  • Seal ductility
  • Natural hydraulic fracturing and hydrofracturing, but NOT hydraulic fracturing as a stimulation process
  • definitions of aggradation, progradation, retrogradation
  • RFT, linked to Wireline formation testers
  • Buckles plot
  • The words sorted and sorting, because i knew I'd never find this bit of info again Core_description#Maturity 8-26-14
  • r35 9-8-14
  • Vertical seismic profile Checkshots_and_vertical_seismic_profiles#Vertical_seismic_profiles 9-25-14

Pages that will be lists of links until an article is written, but still need to be made

  • Karst,
  • Overburden,
  • Gulf Coast basin,
  • Rocky Mountain basins,
  • East Texas basin,
  • Connate brine,
  • Meteoric,
  • Reservoir,
  • stratigraphy,
  • seal,
  • hydrocarbon,
  • listric,
  • structural closure (but we have a definition),
  • phreatic,
  • vadose,
  • Various microfossil groups (forams, diatoms, etc.),
  • Craton,
  • Postdepositional,
  • Syndepositional,
  • Erosion
  • Red beds
  • Geomechanics I can't find any links I like 9-5-14
  • 4-D seismic data
  • Transform boundary
  • convergent boundary
  • divergent boundary
  • passive boundary
  • arc
  • offset spreading center
  • fault
  • trench
  • rift
  • fore-arc basin
  • back-arc margin
  • soft sediment deformation
